Several cars' tires slashed at north end of Ukiah

Several cars had their tires slashed late Thursday night and early Friday morning on Carrigan Lane and other points north of Low Gap Road, on the northern border of Ukiah, according to authorities.

Captain Darren Wojcieszak of the Ukiah Police Department said the vandalism likely happened between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Friday.

There were so many reported tire slashings inside the city's jurisdiction, south of Empire Drive, that the officer handling them hadn't yet had time to prepare a report on the incidents by Monday. Reports were still coming in from people coming home after being away for the weekend, he said, and no count was available.

All of the vandalized cars were parked at the curb, according to Wojcieszak.

"It appears to be one of those random acts," Wojcieszak said, adding that he didn't want to speculate about a motive or suspects because
